For the record. I believe my students ARE happy… and I’m glad… but that’s not what drives my instruction.

My job is to communicate clearly, to educate effectively, and to help them know their efforts matter.

Giving time, energy, and attention to the thing we purchased to improve our teaching?

THAT is the real investment. 😅

Consumerist society tells us the next purchase will solve The Problem of the Moment, but unless we put effort behind our wallets, that’s never going to be true.

Today, episode 247 offers a 12-minute reminder that investment is more than dollars.

People can be exhausting 😵‍💫

My college students used to ask me why more of their professors didn’t share my level of enthusiasm (or patience)…

…and I always told them, “it’s because you guys WEAR PEOPLE OUT”. 😅

The excuses… the apathy… the unmet expectations… the monotony…

…it’s enough to drive us crazy after awhile.

AND YET: our job is more important than ever.

Our satisfaction hangs on our ability to understand what’s in our control - and what isn’t.
