How do you hype yourself up to teach? 🤓

There’s an old episode - no. 18, if you want to look it up - about Teacher Warm Ups.

The idea is this: we know the importance of warming up to PLAY, but what about warming up to TEACH?

I’m a little obsessed with the on-ramp to teaching each day. I think it has a big impact on how you show up to lessons.

My go-to Teacher Warm-Ups? They vary, but there are two constants:

(1) Get into my studio early. The amount of focus I’m able to cultivate for the day just by *being* in my teaching space is unmatched.

Whether you work from home or elsewhere, this takes intention.

(2) Play my instrument! For most of us, music is our first love. It’s important to build that connection; reignite that flame.

I’m a better teacher when I have played my instrument that day.

When I started the Beyond Measure Podcast, I had several goals for the show:

🌟 I wanted it to feel like a conversation, even though it’s a “solo” show.

🌟I didn’t want to tell teachers how to do their job. I wanted to share my experiences and hope they inspired listeners to consider theirs in a new light.

🌟 I wanted to create a space for teachers who sometimes struggled to find friends who understand our work.

🌟I wanted to be relatable, honest, and helpful.

Well, friends, we are 4.5 years into this podcast journey, and I receive feedback every single week that affirms I am, indeed, accomplishing those things.

It is difficult for me to acknowledge things I’m doing well (working on that one!😅), but I have to say, I am overwhelmingly happy to see my project living up to its vision.

I hope you know how grateful I am for each listen! 🤍 I have made many new friends in this venture and can’t wait to make more.
